A visitor from Gloucester to this year’s Art Craft and Design Festival wrote:- Having visited the Art Festival for the first time I wanted to write and say congratulations on a brilliant event. My sister and I attended Patchings on Thursday and Friday enjoying both days and finding all the staff extremely helpful and friendly . . We managed two demonstrations each day which I found to be an absolute pleasure and inspiration to watch . . . The whole event felt well organised and all exhibitors were of a high standard . . . Please pass on our thanks and congratulations from all involved.
This years Festival at Patchings attracted thousands of visitors many were local and a great deal came from all parts of the country. The event has grown to such as extent that in ‘the trade’ it is known as one of the most important art events in the country. It is the emphasis placed upon demonstrating which sets the Patchings Festival apart from many others similar events. This year visitors could join an audience of over 300 watching the skills of ‘celebrity painters’ in a huge marquee equipped with the latest projection to ensure all could see or wander around marquees to see a pot being made, a piece of cloth woven or metal being cast. Such was the variety of skill expertise and creativity on show. Over 200 artists, designers and craftworkers contributed to this year’s Festival, along with the major art and craft material manufactures and suppliers exhibiting their range of products, making this an even bigger event than last year. Works starts preparing for the 2009 Festival in August, so make an advance note in your diary for 4th to 7th June 2009 and join the many who enjoy a great day out which is certain to captivate and inspire.
