ABOUT PATCHINGS
In August 2007
Patchings will be 19 years old. The privately owned family business
began in 1988 with the restoration of a series of redundant farm
buildings and a small plot of land for car park. These originally
housed a gallery, pottery, framing and art materials area and a
restaurant.
Development of the Centre was in most cases unplanned, as neighbouring
properties and land unexpectedly became available. But like many
such opportunities they only come once. The Pavilion and grounds
were opened by the Duke of Gloucester in 1981, the cottage development
of Garden Rooms, the log cabin and farmhouse studios opened in
subsequent years.
Patchings continues to work towards its original aims of promoting
the enjoyment and Participation in art and will hopefully provide
our visitors with creative inspiration and enjoyable experiences. |
FACILITIES
AT THE CENTRE.
Many additional
activities take place at Patchings and the various sized facilities
means groups of up to 150 can be comfortably accommodated.
The Pavilion and private terrace make an ideal setting for
weddings, parties, conferences and indeed any special occasion.
Art and craft sessions and corporate activity days can be organized for groups,
work teams, friends or children making an enjoyable and stimulating experience.
Studio Workshops. A team of self employed professional artists work from individual
studios undertaking commissions etc.,
Accommodation. Patchings has three twin en suit ground floor rooms, known as
the Garden Rooms. These operate on a room only basis with facilities of the restaurant
available as required.
We
are here to support and expand your creative ideas . . . |
