Patchings 2014 Festival In Pictures
Our thanks to all the exhibitors who took part in this year's Patchings Festival - our 21st this year. The work on show provided the many visitors a special opportunity to see art, craft and this year for the first time photography at its very best. As always the event was supported by the major art material suppliers along with a range of key companies from the photography sector.
Thank you also to those who visited and judging from the kind letters and emails so far, thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We must mentioned the team of volunteers who gave of their time and energy to steward the event. The team were made up of Club Members, Art School students and friends of Patchings. The welcome, assistance and support they give to both exhibitors and visitors always has such a positive impact.
The current exhibition in the Barn and Pavilion galleries opened with the Festival and continues until 20 July. The Artist & Leisure Painter Patchings 2014 Exhibition are the selected entries from this year's open competition. The full exhibition along with 50 Highly Commended pieces from each category can be seen on our website. - Click Here To View Now. Other exhibitions currently showing at Patchings are Showboats and Sunflowers by Mark Smith and Maxine Hunt. Mark creates fantastic ceramic ships, boats, birds and fish, Maxine forges and shapes iron to make furniture. The exhibition in the Crew Yard Gallery continues until 5 July. In the Image Gallery Pete Bridgwood and Jonathan Horrocks team up to show photographic exhibition called 'Coast'. Their different styles combine to illustrate how our island nation has been shaped over the centuries by the sea. The exhibition runs until 20 July.
The summer months is a good time to stroll through our Artists' Way and enjoy the landscape and see the splash of colour given by the huge variety of wild flowers. Particularly stunning at present are the ox eyed daisies. Adding to the colour in a different form is the imaginative use of wool and other textiles, all part of our Yarn Bombing celebrations. Almost at every turn the colour and design of textiles can be seen decorating buildings and adding to nature. A special show and thanks to the many volunteers who have created this spetacular.
