To prime a surface in preperation for oil painting. Apply to raw canvas, hardboard, paper, wood and other non-oily surfaces.

Masking Fluid is used to preserve an area while background washes are applied to the paper. Usually in foreground areas where detail is required. When the paint is dry this is removed by lightly rubbing, leaving clean white areas which can be worked on.
